The Colossus is the top of the food chain in Evolve a Cell and the end of the cell stage. Getting there has one hard requirement that catches a lot of players out.
The lock: "Stage 7 needs Colossal"
You can grind to the end of stage 6, evolve, and get a message saying stage 7 needs Colossal. That isn't a size target. It means you haven't bought the Colossus node in the rebirth skill tree yet. No amount of eating gets around it.
Step by step
- Reach stage 4 and rebirth. Do it a few times. Each rebirth earns evolution points.
- Prioritise DNA nodes early. More DNA per life means faster stage 4s, which means more rebirths per hour.
- Buy the Colossus node. It reads "Grow as big as the Colossus" and costs more than a regular node.
- Push through stages 5 and 6. One creator needed about 300 more DNA at the end, and the counter jumped from 460 to 490 before stage 7 completed.
- Stage 7 done. The game confirms the cell stage is complete.
What helped in practice
- Feeding Tube + Drill. One run said everything turned to gold once this combo was online.
- Meteor showers. A big omnivore cell levels absurdly fast during one.
- Speed parts. Two tentacles at the back and extra fins made the final push "feel way better".
The paid route
There's a 149 Robux product called "become the colossus" in the store. If you'd rather skip the grind, that's the option. We think the grind is the fun part, but it's your Robux.
When someone else is the Colossus
A server banner announces "The Colossus rises". Then a player becomes it. Stay at the edges, farm, and wait — it's a terrible time to pick a fight.
